Building a Portfolio with Radical Simplicity
Why I chose typography-first design, monotone aesthetics, and obsessive SEO for my personal site.
There's a certain discipline in removing everything that isn't essential. This portfolio is an exercise in that discipline.
The Philosophy
Jony Ive once said that true simplicity is not the absence of clutter — it's the presence of order. Every element on this site earns its place through function, not decoration.
Typography as Design
When you strip away color, gradients, and decorative elements, typography becomes your entire visual language. The pairing of Playfair Display for headings and Inter for body text creates a hierarchy that feels both editorial and technical.
SEO-First Architecture
Every page includes structured data (JSON-LD), proper metadata, and semantic HTML. The site generates dynamic Open Graph images and a comprehensive sitemap. In 2026, being visible to AI systems is as important as traditional search ranking.
What's Next
I'll be writing more about engineering architecture, system design, and the craft of building products. Stay tuned.
